A tribute to Ginny Coombs will be the highlight of the VNA's Annual Luncheon to be held at noon on June 22, 2010 at the William Penn Inn, Rt. 202 & Sumneytown Pike, Gwynedd, PA.  For 16 years Ginny was the driving force behind the VNA's mission of providing services to underserved individuals and families in the community.

It is with profound sadness that VNA Community Services, Inc. announces the passing of its Executive Director, Virginia A. Haynes Coombs.  Ms. Coombs served as the Agency’s Director for 16 years.

Throughout her life, Ms. Coombs stood for social justice and worked to improve the lives of others.  Prior to her work with VNA Community Services, Inc., Ms. Coombs had been a home health care administrator; a litigation attorney in a civil defense practice; a nursing professor; a prison nurse and a teacher of blind children.

At VNA she lived her passion for improving lives by developing programs that address unmet community needs.

Ms. Coombs stood for family, trusted communication, social justice, civil liberties, and supporting understanding and cooperation among diverse cultures, races and communities.

Ms. Coombs served most recently as Chair of the Montgomery County Eastern Region Collaborative, as a Board Member and Chair of the Professional Advisory Committee of the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania and as a member of the Seniors Advisory Council for Representative Allyson Y. Schwartz.

Her memorial service will take place on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at the Broomall’s Lake Country Club in the Lake View Club House.  Friends and Family are invited to call beginning at 1:00 p.m.  The service will begin at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that any memorial contributions be directed toward one of the following charities:
