Children's Health Services: Making Healthcare Services available to every child.

Children’s Health Services
VNA’s Children’s Health Centers in Abington and Norristown provide primary health care to uninsured and underinsured children.
The Centers are a “medical home” for children who otherwise would not seek health care except on an emergency basis or would find it difficult to have care. Care includes: routine well-child care, immunizations, school and sport physicals, treatment of the sick child, parenting education, home visits when necessary and referral support. An important component of the care is assisting families to obtain free or low-cost health insurance for the children.
The Preschool Screening Program supports the quality of care and school readiness goals of daycare centers, subsidized daycare centers, Head Start programs and nursery schools. VNA Registered Nurses and Speech Pathologists do vision, hearing and speech screening of children 3 to 5 years of age in Montgomery and Bucks County Head Start programs, nursery schools, subsidized day care programs and childcare centers throughout Montgomery County and the five county region. Follow-up and referrals for children are provided to parents, teachers and/or daycare staff.
Pediatric Health Specialist Program
Certified Advance Practice Pediatric Nurses and Registered Nurses provide Health Specialist services to community based programs for children in Head Start programs, the Early Head Start program, area nursery schools and daycare programs that include both health screening, specific disease management, and teaching of both children and staff. Home visits to families are made when it is determined necessary or beneficial.
Children’s Health Center Payment Options
The fees for VNA services to children are significantly discounted and well below the cost to provide the care.
In the Children’s Health Centers, charges are generally paid by Medical Assistance HMO’s. VNA currently accepts Keystone Mercy, Health Partners and AmeriChoice Medical Assistance Plans. VNA also accepts Independence Blue Cross CHiP. Uninsured children are welcome for care.
As a non-profit agency the VNA works to the limit of its available resources to provide services based on need to individuals and families who are unable to pay the full cost. The cost of caring for our patients exceeds our resources. Donations from people who understand the value of this service help bridge the gap. Please donate today.
